Les Moutons de Panurge, by Frederic Rzewski
Clarinettinst Ariana Warren brings together a group of friends to re-connect, to eachother, to music and to the audience, with an eclectic program highlighted by her "bucket list" piece, the minimalist masterpiece Les Moutons des Panurge by Frederic Rzewski, that celebrates the inevitablity of imperfection.
"The group is a bunch of musicians I’ve played with in the past in varying amounts and now that we can play again I wanted to play with and strengthen those friendships and musical relationships. I keep having this cognitive dissonance in my head that I think many of us are feeling that the pandemic feels like such a black hole and now everything is back like it never happened, while also profoundly affected by it. The jolt of the real world, but different than it was. For example, we’re all on stage together, unmasked, playing as normal, while the echos of a few masked audience are facing us." —Ariana Warren
